Habitat for Humanity Omaha does not only build new homes, they also take homes in the North Omaha area and renovate them. This home at 3327 N. 40th Ave. is the most recent rehab and is being renovated by the ELF Coalition. Since the start of this home in January 2010, a lot has changed. Originally, the only way to get to the bathroom was through the bedrooms. Today, there is a new hallway which allows entrance to the bathroom through the common living space, and to the two bedrooms. In the kitchen, we have added a pantry for the future family to store their cereals, can goods, and other needs. The ELFS Coalition is hard at work on this home. As of June the ELFS have torn off the old front porch which was unlevel, to build a new one for the future homeowners. Also, they have worked hard complete the new drywall. Next steps are to install doors, trim, and finish the siding. They hope to dedicate this "new" Habitat home in the next month or so.
